Billington Cartmell brings in Craig Lawrie as head of digital communications

Billington Cartmell, the leading independent marketing communications agency, is bringing in a new Head of Digital Communications.

Craig Lawrie, 31, will play a big role in driving BCL’s increasingly influential digital offering. He comes from MRM Worldwide where he spent two years working on the integrated McCann Worldgroup Intel account, leading Intel’s digital advertising in EMEA, and working with McCann’s New York headquarters.

At BCL, Lawrie will focus on a range of issues including leveraging social networks, user-generated content and the way brands and consumers interact in the digital age.

He said: “With the bluest of blue-chip client lists, BCL has consistently been a leader in marketing communications and provides a wonderful canvas for me to help develop its digital credentials. The agency is rightly famous for its passion and for the quality of its work, and it has proven itself totally committed to digital as a communications channel and as an imperative component in marketing activity.”

Lawrie previously worked with the digital advertising team at AKQA for three years on campaigns for clients including InterContinental Hotels, Nike, Xbox, Orange, Samsung and Yell.

BCL co-founder Paul Cartmell explained: “As one of the country’s leading integrated agencies, we intend to be at the forefront of the digital revolution, helping our clients use all the available technology which is empowering consumers to an extent never experienced before. Craig, with his impeccable digital credentials, is the perfect person to help us meet that digital need.”
